Location: Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London (SW10 9NH) or West Middlesex Hospital (TW7 6AF)

Contract Type: Locum

Salary: £23 – £30 per hour

Hours: 37.5 hours per week – compressed hours, 08.00-18.00, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. Friday

Are you an experienced and highly skilled Hand Therapist (Band 7) looking for a locum role in London?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work within a dedicated Hand Therapy team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, working within closed trauma fracture clinics, out-patient clinics and wards – working with post-operative and non-operative patients.
  • Provide comprehensive hand therapy services to adults and children with various conditions (trauma, acquired conditions) including splinting, exercises, functional rehabilitation, scar and oedema management.

Essential Criteria:

We are looking for a Hand Therapist (Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist) with:

  • HCPC registered
  • Clinical experience in hand therapy – assessment, splinting and modalities
  • Able to clinically reason both simple and complex hand and wrist trauma, including tendon and nerve repairs, acquired hand and wrist conditions such as Dupuytrens, OA, RA, non-specific wrist pain, tendinopathies, peripheral nerve entrapments.
  • Ability to autonomously manage a caseload of adults and paediatric patients as well as support junior therapists with clinical reasoning and treatment planning
  • Experience in interpreting hand and wrist X-rays
  • Experience as a team lead involved in operational planning/oversight

Desirable Skills:

  • Have worked in UK NHS system in a Hand Therapy at Band 7 level
  • Experience working in an on-call capacity for hand trauma service
  • Experience triaging referrals and managing diary capacity
