We are currently recruiting a Paper Machine Process Engineer. The employer provides sustainable solutions for the manufacture of recycled paper and packaging as well as waste management and recovery.
Main Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety: Follow the site H&S procedures, practices and propose improvements. Report any problems and issues immediately following site procedures. Promote site H&S standards and challenge where necessary. Lead H&S investigations as required. Undertake allocated H&S actions. Super User for Q4 system. Day work, shut down Q4 and Isolation administration.
- Environmental: Follow the site environmental procedures, practices and propose improvements. Report any problems and issues immediately following site procedures.
- Quality: Suggest innovations to ensure customer satisfaction is guaranteed. Prepare and run trials as required. Continuous improvement/lean approach to internal processes to improve outgoing quality.
Specific tasks: (This list is not exhaustive)
- Support Production Manager in ensuring that the KPIs for safety, environment, quality and production are met and help to manage the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the production department. Supporting the Production Manager in setting standards and best practices to meet these targets.
- Coordinate and prioritize all corrective, preventative & predictive maintenance day work activities in the production area through the Q4 EPTW system. Coordinate with electrical and mechanical maintenance planners and ensure that all necessary permits are issued and in place to allow efficient use of maintenance day work time.

- As defined by the Production Manager, follow up all TPM activities for the production department. Provide technical leadership for operators within their areas of responsibility.
- Monitor paper characteristics and optimize consumable usage (Starch, dye, size etc.). Work with Lab department on new products and chemical trials as required.
- Drive and coordinate together with technical office installation of new equipment.
- Participate in the Production Area on Call Rota.
- Data analysis and faultfinding, monitoring processes and identifying potential issues.
Academic Qualifications: Relevant Degree (e.g. Industrial Engineering / Mechanics) BSC (MSc Optional) or willing/studying towards such a qualification/relevant long-term experience.
Professional Qualifications: At least 3-year experience in Process Industry essential / Paper industry.
For this role, the salary will be up to Β£75k with a 5% bonus (will increase to 10%).
Based in Carrington, Manchester.
Mon β Fri, 37.5 hours per week with a 2pm finish on a Friday (subject to workload etc).
