E&I Technicians – Build Something Groundbreaking

In partnership with Shotton Mill Limited, Mechspan is looking for E&I Technicians to join a growing engineering team at a pivotal moment—the commissioning of state-of-the-art Valmet paper machines and a cutting-edge production facility. You won’t just maintain equipment—you’ll help build, improve, and optimise a world-class operation.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take a key role in supporting and developing critical plant systems across:

  • Container Board (cardboard) new machine
  • Tissue production – new machine
  • 50Mw – New CHP plant
  • Biofuel power generation
  • Waste wood processing
  • Effluent & Water treatment
  • Recycling facilities and supporting infrastructure

Day to day, you’ll:

  • Respond to breakdowns and get systems back online quickly
  • Diagnose faults and drive a continuous improvement strategy
  • Support commissioning of major projects
  • Deliver planned maintenance and safety preventative maintenance
  • Help shape procedures, standards, and documentation

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for engineers who are:

  • Technically strong, with a completed apprenticeship and HNC (or equivalent)
  • Confident reading electrical schematics and control systems
  • Experienced with drives, instrumentation, PLCs and DCS systems
  • Passionate about solving problems and improving performance

Above all, we’re looking for people who want to grow with the business and be part of something bigger.

What You’ll Get

  • £47,000 – £62,000 depending on role and shift pattern
  • 15% pension contribution (10% employer / 5% employee)
  • 25 days annual leave (shift allowance built into rota)
  • 6 additional F days (1/2 day per month) for Day roles
  • Private healthcare access
