Control & Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer – Kidderminster – Up to £66,500 DOE plus excellent benefits.
Mech Tech Professionals are recruiting for a Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer in Kidderminster. This is your chance to join a leading Waste Management company playing an integral role in ensuring that plant instrumentation and systems are maintained in accordance with the O&M manual, ensuring calibration and compliance with statutory standards, and leading a team of C&I Technicians.
Salary: Up to £66,500 DOE plus excellent benefits.
Benefits to include: 33 days hols including BH, contributory pension, flexible benefits scheme and a recognition scheme.
Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer duties include:
- Extended knowledge of sites Distributed Control Systems (DCS) to enable defect interrogation, rectification, efficient plant control and enable simulations or forces where required.
- Extended knowledge of sites Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS), work closely with the Environmental Department to ensure adherence to site and statutory obligations.
- Planning & overseeing maintenance, calibration, and testing contracts for specialist equipment (CEMS, DCS, Water Treatment, Security, CCTV, Industrial Control Systems).
- Supporting the Maintenance Manager with audits, procurement, and compliance.
- Developing obsolescence plans for control systems and instrumentation
- Supporting cyber security, software baselining, and back‑ups.
- Providing emergency repair services and investigating faults and ensuring timely rectification.
The successful candidate:
- Qualified Controls & Instrumentation Engineer (minimum Higher National Certificate)
- Broad experience of process control systems.
- Experience with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Experience managing a team and multiple contractors/maintenance contracts
- Ideally from a power station, process plant, or similar background
- Excellent problem-solving skills and self‑discipline/ability to work independently
