Our client is looking for an experienced Building Fabric Technician to join their Facility Management Division, supporting one of their largest retail customers covering Cardiff, Newport, Cwmbran and Pontypool. This Building Fabric Technician is a hands-on role, delivering both reactive and planned maintenance works across a large customer base.
Salary: £30k DOE, plus van, overtime, lucrative on call allowance plus bonus.
Hours of work: 40 hour working week
Location: Bodmin – Cardiff, Newport, Cwmbran and Pontypool
Building Fabric Technician Responsibilities:
- Deliver reactive and planned maintenance works across multiple trade disciplines
- Carry out fabric maintenance, repairs to include groundworks, substructure repairs, surfacing works, car parks, forecourts, pavements and trolley bays.
- Maintain and repair internal and external walls, cladding, ceilings, partitions, doors, windows, roofs, canopies, facias, flooring finishes, stairs and balustrades
- Decoration, tiling, and general carpentry and metalwork
- Repair and maintain fencing, manual gates, barriers, and external signage, protection systems including bollards and wall/floor cladding
- Accurately assess works required on site to support quotation and bill of materials (BOM) preparation
- Document works with before-and-after photographs and clear narratives
- Complete job sign-off, including time recording and materials used
- Maintain accurate van stock levels
- Maintain proactive, professional communication with customers at all times
The successful candidate:
- Proven experience carrying out building fabric maintenance across multiple trades
- Ability to accurately estimate construction and repair works
- Strong knowledge of relevant health & safety legislation
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions on site
- Full UK Driving licence
