Mech Tech Professionals are recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in Cheshire. This is your chance to join a leading Waste Management company where the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer plays an integral role in ensuring to maximise plant reliability and availability through safe and effective maintenance practices.

Salary: Up to £51,500 DOE plus excellent benefits. Benefits to include: 33 days hols including BH, contributory pension, flexible benefits scheme and a recognition scheme and up to 12% bonus.

Hours of Work: 8am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday.

Location: Cheshire

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer duties include:

  • Performing preventative and breakdown maintenance on mechanical and rotating plant equipment
  • Working on all power plant systems including overhead cranes, grabs, pumps, fans, and mechanical drive systems
  • Interpreting P&IDs, isometrics, and technical manuals for accurate troubleshooting
  • Maintaining equipment history and ensuring CMMS records are up to date
  • Assisting in planning and executing outages and daily maintenance tasks
  • Carrying out vibration analysis and ensuring correct equipment compliance
  • Supporting procurement and control of mechanical spares and consumables
  • Supervising contractors and contributing to the planning of outages and daily maintenance activities
  • Providing technical support to site operations and contributing to continuous improvement

The successful candidate:

  • ONC / City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in a Mechanical Engineering discipline (or equivalent). Lower-level qualifications may be considered with relevant experience
  • Experienced in power generation or heavy industrial plant maintenance
  • Familiarity with overhead cranes, mechanical drives, pumps, fans, and rotating machinery
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings including P&IDs, pneumatic/hydraulic schematics
  • Computer-literate and experienced with CMMS systems
  • Understanding of health, safety, and environmental practices – IOSH Managing Safely is desirable
  • Competent in reading, writing, and following Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
