Mech Tech Professionals have an opportunity available for an Instrument Designer to apprehend a full-time position within the pharmaceutical sector based in Macclesfield, Cheshire East. Our client, one of the UK\’s largest design and build contractors within the Water, Pharmaceutical, Power & energy, Nuclear and Food & Beverage industries require a competent professional to join their team immediately. Competitive Salary + Benefits The shift pattern will be 40 hours per week. Overview: The Instrument Designer will support and be responsible for the projects team, through the provision of Instrument & Electrical Engineering, Design and Consulting services. Whilst working closely with the Multi Discipline Design Team and Project Managers on site, this position requires a strong level of autonomy and communication skills. Moreover, the suitable candidate will possess a sound technical engineering design background. Main responsibilities will include: * Produce reports, scope of works, concept design and detailed designs (Typically RIBA 2-4) * Provide resource estimates for design related activities * Provision of 2D Design Deliverables, GAs, equipment layouts, cable/containment routing diagrams, Cable Block diagrams, Instrument Loop diagrams & Honey well BMS Interface diagrams * Review and assess customer needs & aspirations * Support the delivery of projects to time, ensure quality, and cost targets together with the ability to multi-task and prioritise parameters of the work scope * Produce documentation in accordance with standards/quality requirements * Interface with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC and Civil teams on site * Carry out site surveys as and when required Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications required: * Strong experience (ideally 5 years minimum) in a relevant design role including the delivery of electrical installation designs within projects for the pharmaceutical sector. * Membership of professional Institution or similar body is desirable * HNC or Degree in technical engineering related subject * Experience within the Pharmaceutical sector (desired) * Experience of E&I design best practices * Compex 12 Qualification (desired) * Experience in ATEX Hazardous Area design and protection concepts including Intrinsic Safety * Experience in Functional Safety–IEC61508/IEC61511 (desired) * Project life cycle experience (Concept through detail design to construction support) * Knowledge of data and administrative management practices and procedures * Sound experience and knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 Software Experience(s) Essential: * Auto CADLT * Microsoft suite of programs Further information to be discussed throughout the on-boarding stage(s)
