Our client, a leading waste and resource management company, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team at their Allington site. This role focuses on delivering mechanical projects from concept through to commissioning, supporting plant reliability and continuous improvement within a heavy industrial environment.

Role responsibilities:

  • Delivering mechanical engineering projects from concept through to installation, commissioning, and handover at the Allington site.
  • Managing contractors and ensuring all project activities are carried out safely and in line with site procedures.
  • Supporting plant outages, including planning and execution of mechanical works.
  • Developing and improving maintenance strategies to enhance plant reliability and performance.
  • Driving continuous improvement through root cause analysis and process optimisation.

The successful candidate:

  • Qualified in a Mechanical Engineering discipline (essential).
  • Proven track record delivering mechanical projects within Energy from Waste, power, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of steam turbines, generators, pressure systems, and mechanical plant equipment.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems and statutory inspection requirements.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification with strong understanding of health and safety compliance.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • Up to £70k DOE inclusive of car allowance plus excellent benefits.
  • 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Pension scheme, life assurance, and bonus scheme.
