Mech Electrics is recruiting a BMS Engineer to support building-services and energy works at Gatwick. You’ll work on BMS installations, integration and optimisation across complex live buildings, supporting energy efficiency and decarbonisation initiatives.
About Us
Mech Electrics is a specialist recruitment partner operating across the built environment, supporting MEP contractors and energy-delivery organisations working on complex, operational buildings and estates.
The Opportunity
This role is based on the Gatwick estate, supporting building-services and energy projects across a diverse portfolio of operational buildings. The focus is on:
- BMS installation, upgrades and integration
- Supporting energy efficiency and decarbonisation works
- Ensuring systems operate reliably within a live, high-compliance environment
This is not a call-out-heavy service role. It’s a planned, delivery-focused BMS position, working alongside MEP delivery teams and estates stakeholders.
The Role
As a BMS Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring building-management systems operate correctly, efficiently and in line with site requirements. Typical responsibilities will include:
- Installation, configuration and commissioning of BMS systems
- Modifying and optimising existing BMS installations
- Fault-finding and system diagnostics
- Supporting integration with mechanical and electrical plant
- Working alongside Project Managers and Site Managers
- Ensuring compliance with site processes and permit systems
- Producing accurate commissioning and handover documentation
- Supporting energy optimisation and operational improvements
You’ll be trusted to work methodically and professionally in a regulated, live environment.
What We’re Looking For
This role suits a BMS Engineer who is technically confident and comfortable working on large, operational estates. Requirements include:
- Proven experience as a BMS Engineer
- Experience installing, commissioning or supporting BMS systems
- Familiarity with common BMS platforms (e.g. Trend, Schneider, Siemens, Honeywell or similar)
- Comfortable working within live buildings and controlled environments
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a wider delivery team
- Clear communication and documentation skills
- Full UK driving licence (Security clearance or site passes may be required for Gatwick access.)
Why This Role Stands Out
- Long-term work on a major operational estate (in excess of 4 years)
- Structured, delivery-led environment (not reactive call-outs)
- Exposure to energy efficiency and decarbonisation programmes
- Opportunity to work as part of an established site team
- Stable role with a reputable delivery partner
