Overview: We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Site Manager to support the delivery of a major data centre project, with a programme duration of approximately 2 years. This is a key site-based role, responsible for managing the installation of mechanical building services within a fast-paced, technically complex environment.
Role Overview: You will take ownership of the on-site mechanical installation, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with the Project Manager and wider delivery team, you will play a critical role in coordinating subcontractors and driving progress on this flagship project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of mechanical building services installation on site
- Oversee subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are completed in line with programme and specifications
- Coordinate mechanical services with other disciplines to avoid clashes and delays
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety requirements and site procedures
- Monitor progress, identify risks, and report regularly to the Project Manager
- Review and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Manage materials, plant, and labour to ensure efficient delivery
- Carry out quality inspections and ensure high standards of installation
- Support commissioning, snagging, and handover phases
- Maintain accurate site records and reporting documentation
Project Details: This role will be based on a single, large-scale data centre project, offering continuity of work over a 2-year programme with more projects following on from this. The project requires a high level of coordination, attention to detail, and experience within critical environments.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Site Manager within building services / M&E
- Strong background in mechanical installation (HVAC, pipework, plant rooms, etc.)
- Experience on data centre or other critical infrastructure projects (highly desirable)
- Good understanding of construction health & safety regulations
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualification
- Relevant mechanical or building services qualifications (NVQ / HNC / equivalent)
