About the role
This is a fast‑paced, people‑facing role at the heart of our business. You’ll be the vital link between our customers, sales team, warehouse and freight providers, making sure every shipment leaves on time with the right paperwork, whether it’s a truck collection in the UK or a container heading across the world. You’ll sit within our Sales team, reporting to our Head of Sales & Operational Planning. It’s a fully on‑site role at our Oakham site, so you’ll be right there with the people you work alongside, which is exactly how we like it.
We’re looking for someone who takes real pride in their work, stays calm under pressure, and enjoys being part of a team that pulls together to hit dispatch deadlines.
What you’ll be doing
- Arranging export shipments and coordinating customer collections
- Compiling packing lists and releasing delivery notes for planned shipments
- Booking and pre‑booking vehicles and containers to ensure goods are collected on time
- Completing export paperwork, including EUR1s, certificates of origin and customs information
- Making sure delivery paperwork is completed promptly to support invoicing
- Coordinating shipments and customer collections from other Mecc Alte locations as needed
- Monitoring and updating the monthly sales risk file, highlighting risks and actions to support a smooth shipment profile
- Supporting the wider sales office team with other duties as needed
What we’re looking for
- 1–2 years’ experience in logistics or export processing
- Knowledge of exports and freight, including shipping goods by truck and container worldwide
- Experience in sales order processing and exporting goods from the UK
- Understanding of current UK export control regulations and government agency requirements
- Knowledge of Incoterms 2020 and customs regulations (ideally)
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally engineering, with an understanding of dispatch deadlines and challenges
- SAP or another ERP system experience
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- An apprenticeship in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business or a related discipline would be advantageous
