Role Overview
We are looking for a technically rigorous, hands-on bioprocess technician to help us develop and scale the production processes that will define the future of cultivated meat manufacturing. As a Bioprocess Technician at Meatly, you will sit at the interface of research and production β support lab activities, such as preparing solutions, buffers and culture media, assembling and sterilising bioreactors. This is a broad, technically demanding role. You will work hands-on with bioreactors, analytical instruments, and cell culture systems on a daily basis. You will collaborate closely with cell biologists and bioengineers. Reporting to the Bioprocess Engineering Lead, this role suits a scientist-engineer who is motivated by the challenge of supporting the development of manufacturing processes that have never existed before.
Key Responsibilities
- Support lab activities, such as preparation of solutions, buffers and cell culture medium
- Assisting in media quality control and data analysis confirming batch-to-batch quality
- Assembling and sterilising bioreactors
- Maintaining backup cell culture to a high quality
- Perform other duties as assigned, including all those associated with facilitating the smooth operation in the lab
- Maintain standards consistent with company culture and values
Requirements
Essential- BSc or MSc degree in life sciences, biotechnology, chemistry, bioprocess engineering, biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, or a closely related discipline
- Meticulous attention to detail, with a rigorous, systematic approach to experimental work
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving biotech setting
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a close-knit multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to work in a controlled laboratory environment and participate in rota-based coverage, including occasional weekend support
- Experience in aseptic technique
- Hands-on experience in cell culture
- Operating mammalian cell culture bioreactors
- Experience in cultivated meat, cell-based food, or the broader alternative protein sector
