As a Manufacturing Butcher – Skilled in our abattoir, you’ll work on the deboning line removing small bones from primals of fresh meat, working towards the site objective of providing high quality products in a safe, efficient and hygienic environment.

Follow training in food safety to ensure high quality, food safe products are produced for our customers, ensuring health and safety processes are maintained to create a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues. You’ll use a knife or bladed machine to prepare primal for trimming, and will focus on completing tasks efficiently in order to reduce waste and downtime.

About You

You’ll be the kind of person who:

  • Has previous butchery and knife skills experience
  • Is able to maintain concentration and consistently high standards in a fast paced food manufacturing environment
  • Is able to understand detailed training and follow guidance and instructions
  • Food Safety Level 2 is desirable, but can be trained at site

Please note that this is an abattoir/slaughterhouse environment and you will be in the presence of raw meat and carcasses, working in a chilled environment of between 2 and 9 degrees. Full personal protective equipment is provided and must be worn at all times.

Set on nine acres of land, our 16,700 square foot Colne site is one of Europe’s largest beef, pork and lamb processing facilities. Here our 840 colleagues work five days a week, producing meat and raw materials for sausages, pies and more. We supply our stores and Farmers Boy with 150 products. Everything from pork shanks and beef fillets to oxtail primals and pork shoulder joints.
