Purpose of the role
To move sides of beef around from the abattoir to sides chillers and then to boning hall. You will be required to scribe and split sides of beef into quarters then re‑hanging the hind quarter and moving them into the main production areas.
Main responsibilities
- Scribe and split beef into quarters and rehang hind quarters as directed by their supervisor, to customer specification.
- Be able to lift weights and be able to move around the factory floor without assistance for the shift duration.
- Be familiar with the daily production plan and work as part of the team to set up the line, complete checks and ensuring materials are ready to up.
- Perform all pre‑start up, hygiene and safety checks as directed.
- Report all breakages, damages, or defaults of equipment to the Line Supervisor, ensuring all equipment/machinery is only used when it is safe to use.
- Record checks as and when directed.
- Ensure that the product is of the highest standard and report any issues to the Line supervisor immediately.
- Reporting any accidents or near misses is expected and assistance with any investigation is a prerequisite of the Company’s safety policy.
- Always adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Act in a responsible manner following all safety regulations; safe work practices, SOP’s and never risking one’s own safety.
- Ensure compliance with PPE policies and procedures.
- Other duties will be part of the role from time to time – this will be specified by your direct line Supervisor.
- Report any risks or any evidence of unsafe or out of specification product, equipment, packaging or raw materials, to a designated manager to enable the resolution of issues requiring immediate action.
You would be starting at 04:30am and work Monday to Friday. The pay for this role starts at £13.94 and will increase depending on experience.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a high‑volume meat processing factory highly beneficial.
- Able to work in chilled environment.
- Manual handling ability and awareness.
- Physically fit.
- Fluent in English, communicate well in written and oral form with multi‑nationals on all levels.
- Flexibility to meet daily production targets.
- Consistent approach and strong work ethic.
- Able to work under own initiative and as part of a team.
- Adaptable to change and production demands.
