Mears is seeking an experienced Finance and Commercial Manager to join our North Lanarkshire team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who can partner with operational teams, drive financial performance, and provide insightful analysis that supports business decision-making.

Working closely with operational stakeholders, you will play a key role in financial management, forecasting, budgeting and commercial contract activities. You will help identify risks and opportunities, challenge performance where necessary, and ensure commercial and financial information is communicated effectively across the business.

About the Role

  • Act as a trusted commercial and financial business partner to branch leadership.
  • Develop a deep understanding of operational processes, contract structures and key commercial drivers.
  • Take ownership of financial performance and challenge operational teams against commercial terms, financial targets and operational KPIs.
  • Produce high quality commercial and financial management information, including monthly performance reviews and commentary.
  • Identify, quantify and communicate risks and opportunities against annual targets.
  • Support the production of rolling forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Support commercial contract activity including pricing reviews, contract variations, repricing exercises and tendering opportunities.
  • Communicate financial and commercial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders to support informed decision-making.

Key Criteria

  • Experienced Finance and Commercial Manager with a proven track record of supporting operational teams in a contract-based environment.
  • Confident working with complex financial models and able to interpret and challenge financial and commercial performance.
  • Excellent communicator, able to explain complex financial information in a clear, concise and commercially focused way.
  • Proactive and hands-on approach, comfortable working independently and taking ownership of outcomes.
  • Experience in Social Housing and Housing Maintenance is desirable.
  • Commercial understanding of social housing, including Schedule of Rates, subcontractors, job pricing and final accounts.
  • Full UK driving licence.
