About Our Clients:
- Kent and Medway Mental Health Trust (including CYPMHS) - Providing inpatient and outpatient mental health services across Kent and Medway, including services for children, young people, older adults, forensic and specialist care. The Trust operates across approximately 68 sites, delivering 24/7, 365-day patient services.
- Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT) - One of the largest community health providers in England, employing approximately 5,700 staff and serving a population of 1.4 million people across Kent, East Sussex, and parts of London. This contract includes 33 sites, made up of local GPs, sexual health clinics, dentists, and community-based care centres.
About the Role:
As an Electrical Manager within our Maidstone branch, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of a team of electricians operating across a busy and varied NHS contract. You will provide technical oversight, ensure compliance with statutory and healthcare regulations, and play a key role in developing the electrical service across the contract. The role involves close collaboration with clients, internal management teams, and external stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant, and reliable services. You will operate across Kent, spreading your time between the office branch base in Maidstone Turkey Mill and on site with your team members and clients. You will also be the main contact for any externally subcontracted work and liaise with that subcontractor daily. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and driven individual to grow their career while supporting vital NHS services across Kent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team of electrical operatives
- Ensure compliance with HTM 06-02, SFG, and all relevant electrical and health & safety standards
- Act as a lead for electrical compliance within healthcare environments (where qualified); support will be provided to help you develop into this role if not already attained.
- Supervise electrical installations, maintenance, testing, and remedial works β including large scale projects to commercial sized buildings.
- Ensure all electrical works are safe for continued use, protecting service users, staff, and the public
- Oversee health & safety standards and safe systems of work
- Support branch management, building managers, and wider operational teams
- Assist with recruitment, training, and development of electricians
- Creating and assessing quotations and workstreams.
- Support contract growth, including bidding for new works and contracts
- Attend client meetings and stakeholder events as required
Role Criteria:
- Full UK driving license
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, including AM2
- City & Guilds Electrical qualification
- People management or supervisory experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong IT skills with the ability to use several different systems
Desirable:
- Trained in HTM 06-02 β Electrical Safety
- Experience working in a commercial environment
- Knowledge of working in a critical NHS environment
- Experience supervising electricians or contractors
