Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, 42.5hrs per week, Monday to Friday

Salary: £35,000 + company van and fuel card, with additional opportunities for overtime. There is also an optional out-of-hours call rota, providing the chance to further enhance your overall earnings.

Join us on our new, exciting contract. Mears Group is delivering a long-term social housing repairs and maintenance partnership across the wider Midlands region. Providing housing repairs and maintenance services across a geographically diverse social housing portfolio covering market towns, rural communities and urban locations, the contract includes responsive repairs, planned maintenance and property services, with a strong focus on customer service, quality and community investment.

Due to continued growth across the contract, opportunities are available for experienced Roofers across South Worcestershire, North Gloucestershire, and surrounding areas.

About the Role:

As part of our skilled workforce, our roofers play a vital role in maintaining the safety and integrity of homes - carrying out everything from tile replacements and felt repairs to chimney works and emergency callouts. Duties:

  • Carrying out roofing repairs and maintenance across occupied and void properties
  • Repairing and replacing roof tiles, battens, felt roofing, flat roofs, and asphalt systems
  • Completing chimney repairs, lead work, and installation of ridge, verge, and hip tiles
  • Repairing and maintaining guttering, downpipes, fascias, soffits, and barge boards
  • Installing and repairing roof insulation, ventilation systems, rooflights, and skylights
  • Attending emergency call-outs to make properties safe following leaks or storm damage
  • Identifying roofing defects and recommending appropriate remedial works
  • Working with reclaimed roofing materials where appropriate
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely, to a high standard, and in line with regulatory requirements including the Decent Homes Standard
  • Accurately recording materials used and time spent on jobs
  • Liaising with tenants, supervisors, and site teams to minimise disruption and maintain clear communication
  • Supporting planned maintenance and refurbishment programmes

Role Criteria:

  • Previous experience carrying out domestic roofing repairs and maintenance works
  • Experience working on both occupied and void properties
  • Good knowledge of pitched and flat roofing systems, including felt and asphalt roofing
  • Experience completing lead work, chimney repairs, and roofline installations
  • Ability to identify roofing defects and recommend appropriate remedial works
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations within a repairs and maintenance environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work professionally with tenants, colleagues, and site teams
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and maintain accurate job records
  • Full UK driving licence
