Salary: £32,917.00 + company van and fuel card, with additional opportunities for overtime. There is also an optional out-of-hours call rota, providing the chance to further enhance your overall earnings.
Join us on our new, exciting contract. Mears Group is delivering a long-term social housing repairs and maintenance partnership across the wider Midlands region. Providing housing repairs and maintenance services across a geographically diverse social housing portfolio covering market towns, rural communities and urban locations, the contract includes responsive repairs, planned maintenance and property services, with a strong focus on customer service, quality and community investment.
Due to continued growth across the contract, opportunities are available for experienced Groundworkers across South Worcestershire, North Gloucestershire, and surrounding areas.
About the Role:
You’ll be responsible for a variety of tasks including paving, fencing, drainage, concreting, and general groundwork repairs. Working in and around occupied homes, you’ll need to be professional, respectful, and committed to delivering high-quality work that meets both safety and service standards. With a strong pipeline of work and a focus on improving housing conditions, this is a great opportunity to be part of a team making a real impact in the community. We’re looking for someone dependable, skilled across a range of groundworks, and confident working independently or as part of a team.
Duties:
- Carry out external repairs and maintenance across social housing properties
- Install and repair paving, slabs, and pathways
- Erect and maintain fencing, gates, and boundary structures
- Undertake drainage works including gulley clearing, pipe repairs, and soakaway installations
- Mix and lay concrete for footings, bases, and hard standings
- Carry out minor brickwork and reinstatement works as required
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and site standards
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
- Work respectfully in and around occupied homes, maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
- Identify and report any additional works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues
- Participate in the out-of-hours emergency rota when required
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
- Provide high levels of customer care at all times
Role Criteria:
- Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance in a ground worker position
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
- Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
- Willingness to participate in out-of-hours emergency rota
