About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled Painter & Decorator to join our Voids team in Birmingham
You'll play a key role in refurbishing vacant properties, carrying out painting and decorating works to help bring homes back up to a high standard ready for new tenants.
Working across a range of void properties, you'll be responsible for surface preparation, decorating, minor remedial works, and ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
This is a hands-on role requiring attention to detail, strong workmanship, and the ability to work independently while contributing to the wider voids team.
- Role Responsibilities
- Preparing surfaces including filling, sanding, stripping wallpaper, and making good prior to decoration
- Painting walls, ceilings, doors, frames, skirting boards, and other internal surfaces
- Applying emulsion, gloss, and specialist finishes to achieve a professional standard
- Carrying out wallpaper removal and redecoration works where required
- Treating and redecorating areas affected by damp and mould
- Completing external painting works including fascia boards, soffits, and other exterior surfaces as required
- Carrying out snagging and finishing works to ensure properties are ready for handover
- Working alongside other trades during void refurbishment programmes
- Identifying and reporting any additional repairs required within properties
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety requirements and company standards
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good condition
- Completing job records and documentation accurately and on time
- Supporting the delivery of void properties within agreed turnaround times and quality standards
- Role Criteria
- Proven experience in painting and decorating, including wallpapering
- Experience in Damp & Mould treatments
- Experience in the above duties
- Ability to work at height and use ladders safely
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices
- Own hand tools required
- Full UK driving license
