Overview

Water Hygiene Technician role at Mears Group PLC – based in Kent. Full Time, Permanent, 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:00–17:00.

Salary up to £31,062.19 per annum + overtime/OOH rota. Company van, fuel card, uniform and PDA provided.

Our Kent Facilities Management branch supports two major NHS Trusts in the Kent region. The branch administers facilities management services across multiple buildings to ensure safety, compliance and full operability for users. Core repair and maintenance functions include gas, electrical, lifts, water and general plumbing and building works. Our clients—Kent & Medway Partnership Trust (Mental Health Services) and Kent Community Health Foundation Trust—provide care across offices, clinics, dental surgeries and inpatient/outpatient facilities throughout Kent.

Responsibilities

  • All aspects of compliant ACOP L8 4th Edition 2013 Legionella monitoring regime to include Monthly Temperature monitoring of sentinel and representative outlets, Quarterly showerhead cleaning and descaling, cold water storage tank visual inspections, calorifier cleaning, inspection and purging.
  • Carry out basic building and system surveys in relation to water compliance.
  • Carry out potable water sampling for Legionella/TVC when applicable.
  • Carry out cleaning and disinfection of cold-water storage tanks – training can be provided.
  • Carry out servicing and maintenance of thermostatic mixing valves.
  • Maintenance and recording of all data in site logbooks.
  • Production of job reports and certificates.
  • Production of simple line diagrams.
  • Customer liaison and feedback.
  • To act at all times in accordance with Mears Group Policies, Processes and systems.
  • Compliant with ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 at all times.
  • Support and participate in the continuous improvement of the Water Hygiene function.

Role Criteria

  • City & Guilds Legionella Awareness Training
  • Experience of working to the latest industry standards
  • Familiar with domestic/commercial water systems, layout and operation
  • Ability to use industry-related tablet software
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organised and logical approach to work, with a strong work ethic
  • Experience of working within a social housing / facilities management environment
  • Full UK driving license
  • Clear DBS

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21, have held your licence for over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
