About the Role
Proudly we operate the Task Team (Central) and other regional teams: South (Essex) and North (Durham). Our team mobilises, demobilises, and supports contracts across Mears, providing assistance to understaffed or progressing sites. We mainly carry out repairs on day‑to‑day/response works, sometimes on voids and planned work. We can work on any contract requiring support in Birmingham, Coventry, Derby, Leicester, Nottingham, Stoke‑on‑Trent, surrounding areas, and may travel as needed. We aim to mobilise 12 operatives, 1 planner, and 1 supervisor to establish this new branch and assist other teams. We’re looking for a skilled plumber to join our team in Nottingham. You’ll carry out a variety of internal painting and decorating tasks across residential properties and support responsive maintenance works. This hands‑on role requires precision, professionalism, and a strong eye for detail. You’ll prepare surfaces, apply finishes, and ensure that all work meets safety and quality standards, working independently and as part of a wider maintenance team to return properties to a lettable or livable condition efficiently and to a high standard.
Duties
- Carry out responsive plumbing repairs in occupied properties
- Diagnose and repair leaks, blockages, and drainage issues
- Replace taps, toilets, cisterns, basins, and other sanitary ware
- Repair or replace pipework, valves, and fittings
- Investigate and resolve issues with hot water systems and radiators
- Ensure all work complies with current plumbing regulations and health and safety standards
- Record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
- Remove, repair, or replace bath panels as part of routine plumbing maintenance or to access pipework for leak detection and repair, ensuring panels are securely refitted and finished to a professional standard
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
- Work respectfully in residents’ homes, maintaining a clean and safe environment
- Identify and report any additional works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues
- Participate in the out‑of‑hours emergency rota when required
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
- Provide high levels of customer care at all times
Role Criteria
- Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance in a plumbing position
- Experience in Carpentry repairs and maintenance
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
- Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
- willingness to participate in out‑of‑hours emergency rota
