Contract: Full Time Permanent

Salary: up to £33,040 per annum, plus company van & fuel card

Hours: 42.5 hours per week (8-5 Monday-Friday)

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced Roofer to join our team in Medway. Working with Medway City Council on a variety of residential works, working in occupied and void properties and commercial areas, our team produces work to the highest standards and delivers outstanding customer service. You will be working on both pitched and flat roofing.

Duties

  • General roofing repairs across occupied and void properties and commercial buildings
  • Replacement of roof tiles, felt roofing, and wooden battens
  • Chimney repairs and replacements
  • Installation and repair of flat roofs, including felt and garages asphalt systems
  • Lead work including flashings, soakers, and valley gutters
  • Repair and installation of ridge tiles, verge tiles, and hip tiles
  • Guttering clearance and downpipe repairs and replacements
  • Fascia, soffit, and barge board installation and maintenance
  • Roof insulation works to joists and rafters
  • Installation and repair of roof vents, eaves ventilation, and ducting
  • Repairs to rooflights and skylights
  • Working off ladders and scaffolding – at height
  • Emergency call-outs to make properties safe following storm damage or leaks
  • Identification of defects and recommendation of remedial actions
  • Working with reclaimed roofing materials where appropriate
  • Ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety regulations
  • Accurate recording of materials used and time spent on jobs
  • Liaising with tenants and site supervisors to ensure clear communication and minimal disruption
  • Supporting planned maintenance programmes and refurbishment projects
  • Ensuring compliance with the Decent Homes Standard and other regulatory requirements

Role Criteria

  • Proven experience working as a roofer, with the ability to carry out a range of tasks including work on flat roofs, pitched roofs and garage roofs. This should also include gutter cleaning, minor gutter repairs and general roof maintenance.
  • A relevant trade qualification would be desirable; however, candidates with substantial hands‑on, “on the job” experience will also be considered.
  • Comfortable working at height and able to carry out duties safely and confidently in line with health and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently when required.
  • Previous experience using a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) or similar handheld device to record work, complete jobs or update systems.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence, as travel between sites will be required.
