Northumberland, Newcastle and Sunderland area
Full Time, Permanent, 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm

Mears provides temporary accommodation to asylum seekers while their claims are assessed in regions including North East, Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. Mears partners with government bodies, registered providers, tenants, landlords, and investors to address homelessness, increase social and affordable housing, and develop specialized housing for people with care needs.
About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate Multi Skilled Operative to join our expanding team in the North East of England. The role involves working in a busy responsive repairs environment, reporting individual job actions to ensure high service levels and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include repairs and refurbishment of tenanted properties, such as changing doors, taps, baths, fixing radiators, kitchen units, fire doors, carpets, and plastering walls and ceilings. The role also involves property inspections, completing inspection forms on a handheld PDA, carrying out small repairs, and reporting larger issues for future planning.
Role Criteria:
- NVQ Level 2 in Plastering, Plumbing, or Joinery
- Trade knowledge and experience in two other trades
- Full UK driving license
- Ability to work independently and on your initiative
- Flexible and willing to travel
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Candidates must have the right to work in the UK; Mears does not sponsor visas
