We invite you to apply for the Regional SHE Manager role at Mears Group PLC—a key position responsible for health, safety, and environmental (SHE) management across our branches in Croydon, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Tower Hamlets.
As a senior member of the management team, you will implement and oversee all aspects of SHE on our contracts, ensuring full compliance with legislation, company policy, and best practice. You will work closely with operational and administrative teams, branch managers, clients, and subcontractors to foster a strong health and safety culture.
Responsibilities
- Provide competent advice and support to operational and administrative teams, monitoring compliance with policy, procedures, and systems.
- Deliver formal training to the wider team and business, supporting the development of the Mears SHE strategy.
- Monitor branch compliance, conduct audits, prepare reports, and liaise with branch managers to resolve findings.
- Support field-based SHE compliance across all branch areas, travelling regularly to the Croydon, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Tower Hamlets locations.
- Contribute to initiatives designed to advance our SHE strategy and drive continuous improvement.
Role Criteria
- Minimum NEBOSH Certificate / NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Experience in construction H&S and social housing settings
- Valid UK Driving Licence – aged over 21, held for at least three months, with fewer than nine penalty points
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and good working practices
- Experience with health and safety issues in property maintenance / management environments
- Excellent communication skills at all levels of the group and with subcontractors
- Pro‐active, positive, self‐motivated, reliable, and approachable with a willingness to develop yourself and others
- Successful completion of background, identity and security checks
Desirable Requirements
- Diploma or Level 6 qualification in Health and Safety
- Environmental Management qualification
- Auditor qualification
- Other H&S qualifications used on construction sites (scaffolding, temporary works, etc.)
