About the role:

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Multi-Skilled Operative to join our team, supporting a busy voids repairs and maintenance contract in Leeds. This is a hands-on role focused on preparing empty social housing properties to a safe, high-quality, lettable standard, helping residents move into homes that are ready first time.

You will work across a range of void properties, carrying out end-to-end repairs and refurbishment works across multiple trades. This role offers strong workload stability and the opportunity to take pride in delivering properties back to clients efficiently and to a consistently high standard.

Duties:

  • You will be responsible for completing repairs and maintenance works within void social housing properties, ensuring homes are brought back to lettable standard safely, efficiently, and within agreed timescales.
  • Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance across void social housing properties
  • Replace and repair skirting boards, architraves, and internal door frames
  • Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops, and cupboard doors
  • Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges
  • Identify and repair minor plumbing issues including leaks, dripping taps, and blocked sinks
  • Carry out patch plastering and make good damaged walls and ceilings
  • Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing
  • Undertake painting and decorating to a professional finish as part of void refurbishment works
  • Ensure all work is completed to specification and quality standards before handover
  • Report any additional works or defects identified during inspections
  • Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
  • Manage workload efficiently to meet void turnaround targets and service level agreements

Role Criteria:

  • Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
  • Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work
  • Willingness to participate in out-of-hours emergency rota
