Join us on our new, exciting contract. Mears Group is preparing to mobilise a new long-term social housing repairs and maintenance partnership across the wider Midlands region. Delivering housing repairs and maintenance services across a geographically diverse social housing portfolio covering market towns, rural communities and urban locations, the contract will include responsive repairs, planned maintenance and property services with a strong focus on customer service, quality and community investment.

About The Role

We are looking for multi-skilled operatives to join our team in Evesham. You will carry out a variety of property maintenance tasks, including:

  • Painting
  • Plastering
  • Brickwork
  • Carpentry
  • Tiling
  • Silicone/mastic works
  • Groundworks
  • Minor plumbing in tenanted properties

The role requires delivering high-quality repairs and installations across domestic properties. With a strong pipeline of work and a commitment to improving social housing standards, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a team that’s making a real difference in the community. We’re looking for reliable, multi-trade skilled individuals who are passionate about getting the job done right the first time.

Duties:

  • Carry out day-to-day responsive repairs across tenanted social housing properties
  • Replace or repair skirting boards, architraves and internal door frames
  • Install and adjust kitchen units, worktops and cupboard doors
  • Repair or replace internal doors, handles, locks and hinges
  • Identify and fix minor plumbing issues such as leaks, dripping taps and blocked sinks
  • Carrying out patch plastering and making good damaged walls or ceilings
  • Complete wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing
  • Paint and decorate to a professional finish following repair works
  • Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Work in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy
  • Participate in out-of-hours emergency repair rota as required
  • Report any further works, safeguarding concerns or property issues beyond scope
  • Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents' homes
  • Accurately record job details, materials used and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
  • Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicle in good working order
  • Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets

Key Criteria:

  • Proven experience in domestic repairs and maintenance across multiple trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering, tiling, decorating)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, with experience working in occupied homes
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
  • Ability to use handheld devices or job management systems to record work

Vehicle: To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21, have held your licence for over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
