Overview

We are looking for a skilled and reliable Drainage Operative to join our Repairs and Maintenance team, following an internal promotion. This practical, hands-on role involves a variety of tasks to help maintain our properties to a high standard. A commitment to quality workmanship, good customer service, and working well within a team is essential.

Role Details

Location: Peterborough

Salary: £35,129.06

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

Responsibilities

  • Unblock sinks, baths, and drains using jetting machines and drainage rods
  • Clear, repair, and replace guttering and downpipes
  • Carry out minor plumbing repairs, such as fixing or replacing wastes and traps
  • Fix leaking waste pipes and perform minor plumbing repairs with practical know-how and problem-solving approach
  • Support cleaning and waste collection duties (training provided), with flexibility and a willingness to learn new skills
  • Work collaboratively within the Repairs and Maintenance team, maintaining strong teamwork and reliability
  • Deliver excellent customer service across all tasks with a professional, customer-focused attitude
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and residents using clear verbal communication and good interpersonal skills
  • Make decisions and solve problems independently when needed, demonstrating confidence and initiative
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality and cost control with a methodical and dependable approach

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Eligibility to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
  • To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21, have held your licence for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points
  • Candidates are subject to relevant Background, Identity & Security checks before employment
