As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will support branch management and operational teams to ensure the effective implementation of health, safety and environmental policies and procedures:
- Attend incident locations when required, including outside normal working hours, to support incident response and provide health and safety advice to operational teams.
- Ensure employees and subcontractors carry out work safely and in compliance with legislation, company policies and contract requirements.
- Carry out and record site inspections, identifying areas for improvement and supporting corrective actions.
- Support branch management with all health and safety matters.
- Attend monthly health and safety meetings with branch management teams.
- Promote and develop a strong safety culture throughout the business.
- Monitor and support health and safety training requirements across the branch.
- Ensure adequate first aid provision is maintained.
- Review and support the completion of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, producing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to operational teams on health and safety best practice.
Key Criteria:
- Full UK Manual Driving Licence
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation
- Understanding of health and safety issues within the building and construction industry
- Knowledge of safe working practices and safe systems of work
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
