What does a life as a Carpenter & Joiner look like?
Site based Carpenters typically work on building sites or in domestic and commercial premises, preparing and fixing building components from initial erection of a new building through to installation of fixtures and fittings, and performing repairs and maintenance in both new and old buildings.
Apprenticeship Content:
- Develop and maintain good working relations
- Read Construction drawings
- Measure and transfer sizes
- Install first fix components
- Install second fix components
- Use a range of hand tools
- Set up and use a range of power tools
- Erect roof structures
- Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks
Requirements to be a successful applicant:
- Potential to work at SCQF level 6/7
- Ability and desire to learn and develop knowledge of skills, technology and safety procedures
- Live within commutable distance to independently travel to and from the branch
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships
