Competitive pay. Bricklayer Apprenticeship. Course Title: Bricklayer - SCQF Level 6. Location: Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire. Contract Type: Fixed Term Apprenticeship. Salary: Offering the nationally agreed apprentice pay rates, plus excellent company benefits. You will be paid for your normal working hours plus your attendance at college. Training Provider – CITB – South Lanarkshire College. Start Date – 3 August 2026 (Provisional). Course Length: approximately 2 years. Entry Criteria for roles – No formal qualifications required / Pre-apprenticeship / Potential to work towards SVQ level 6 & 7. Candidates will undertake a pre-employment assessment and interview.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain good working relations
• Read construction drawings
• Measure the work area and transfer sizes
• Set out the work area
• Prepare and mix mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer
• Erect masonry structures
• Repair and maintain masonry structures
• Shape and trim bricks using hammers, chisels and power tools
• Check that courses are plumb and level using laser levels, spirit levels and plumb lines

What you need to be a successful applicant

• Candidates must have the potential to work at SCQF level 6/7
• The ability and desire to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of tasks
• Strong communication skills
• Be able to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships
• The recruitment process will consist of an entrance test with highest scoring candidates progressing to an interview for final selection

Application Process

All applicants must submit their CV and complete the apprenticeship questionnaire via the Mears Careers website. If shortlisted, you will be contacted to confirm whether you have been selected for the next stage. Part of the selection process includes a basic maths and English test. All roles require entitlement to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered. To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be over 21, have held your licence for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points. All roles are subject to Background, Identity & Security checks before commencement of employment.
