Overview
Competitive pay. Bricklayer Apprenticeship. Course Title: Bricklayer - SCQF Level 6. Location: Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire. Contract Type: Fixed Term Apprenticeship. Salary: Offering the nationally agreed apprentice pay rates, plus excellent company benefits. You will be paid for your normal working hours plus your attendance at college. Training Provider – CITB – South Lanarkshire College. Start Date – 3 August 2026 (Provisional). Course Length: approximately 2 years. Entry Criteria for roles – No formal qualifications required / Pre-apprenticeship / Potential to work towards SVQ level 6 & 7. Candidates will undertake a pre-employment assessment and interview.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain good working relations
- Read construction drawings
- Measure the work area and transfer sizes
- Set out the work area
- Prepare and mix mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer
- Erect masonry structures
- Repair and maintain masonry structures
- Shape and trim bricks using hammers, chisels and power tools
- Check that courses are plumb and level using laser levels, spirit levels and plumb lines
What you need to be a successful applicant
- Candidates must have the potential to work at SCQF level 6/7
- The ability and desire to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of tasks
- Strong communication skills
- Be able to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships
- The recruitment process will consist of an entrance test with highest scoring candidates progressing to an interview for final selection

All roles require entitlement to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered. To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be over 21, have held your licence for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points. All roles are subject to Background, Identity & Security checks before commencement of employment.
