About the Role:
As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will be working in our social housing background, providing a stable and profitable contract, delivering excellent service and support through our local teams, who understand the importance of working together for the local community.
This role will see you working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor as part of a local team assisting the Commercial & General Manager with commercial control & reporting on high standard commercial activities to housing properties, delivering best in class commercial acumen, customer service and satisfying all safety, quality, and cost control standards.
Control all facets of cost, budgetary and value analysis of the contract in accordance with the contract terms, including responsibility for the timely and accurate production of Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR's), valuations, variations and final accounts and for invoicing of the client, together with overhead / Working Area Overheads in line with company governance and Mears budget and in conjunction with the operational and financial teams.
Effective management of the processing of valuation certificates and documentation to ensure efficient income recovery and preparing contractual documentation in accordance with relevant contract conditions and company procedures including those provided for within Scheme of Delegated Authority.
Manage the end to end process of subcontractors, including the placement of orders in line with Mears Group IMSF013 A to G documents, Sub Contractor Portal, certification & payments to sub-contractors in conjunction with MCM and MSP and Mears payment terms.
Undertake all pre and post contract quantity surveying duties including the pricing of target prices, AMPs, tender build ups, Compensation Events / variations, the measurement and preparation of Interim Applications for payment and Final Accounts, all in accordance with Mears budget and Company procedures, including SODA.
Monitor and advise upon relevant Key Performance Indicators in line with the contract commitments, subcontractor performance and internal processes.
Ensure the customer experience is central to all activities by adopting a professional manner when communicating with all stakeholders, this includes but is not limited to appearance, company ID, maintaining a high standard of Health & Safety requirements.
Follow and support policies, procedures, initiatives and work instructions at all times and keep all supplied company assets in a good condition in line with the company policies, reporting to your Manager where damages occur.
Undertake any other duties as required by the company, which may include cover any absences, and attend informal and formal company & client meetings and training sessions as required.
Role Criteria:
- Previous experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor
- Level 3 Quantity Surveyor apprenticeship or Surveying Technician
- Experience in a commercial capacity, working in the Social Housing Sector as a principal and/or Main contractor across Voids & Repairs Business streams
- Experience working with typical Pricing agreements & Frameworks within a TPC Contract, which includes mandatory knowledge of NHF Schedule of Rates
- Experience Measuring Works, Generating and Agreeing applications
- Experience Reviewing, Validating and approving subcontractor quotations & variations in line with pricing agreements (NHF V8.1)
- Experience in financial reporting and data analysis
- Strong numeracy and financial management skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are necessary
- IT skills including advanced Excel and Word are essential
