A people‐first leadership role with clear accountability. We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an experienced people‐focused Practice Manager to join our team. This role is ideal for a confident leader who thrives on supporting, developing, and empowering teams, while also setting clear expectations, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement across the practice.

As Practice Manager, you will be the central point of leadership and accountability for the practice, ensuring both people and operations perform effectively and sustainably. You will hold overall responsibility for the day‐to‐day operation of the practice. While key team members manage elements of these areas day to day, you will monitor outcomes, review performance data, and ensure standards are consistently met, stepping in where support, guidance, or corrective action is needed.

A core part of this role is leading performance in a supportive and constructive way by setting clear expectations and goals for individuals and teams, monitoring performance through agreed KPIs, feedback, and operational data, and holding regular check‐ins and performance conversations. You will identify training needs and support development plans, recognise and celebrate strong performance and positive behaviours, and address underperformance early through coaching, support, and structured action plans. You will balance compassion with accountability, ensuring staff feel supported while understanding their responsibilities and contribution to the practice.

Working closely with the director of practice and the IVC Evidensia Area Support team, you will contribute to performance reviews, business planning, and improvement initiatives, using insight and data to inform decision‐making.

Located in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, our practice benefits from stunning countryside, charming villages, and a strong sense of community. With the Forest of Bowland and Pendle Hill nearby, the area is perfect for those who enjoy the outdoors, while still offering excellent transport links to Manchester, Preston, and surrounding areas. Our team includes five highly skilled vets and a dedicated support team, all united by a genuine passion for animal welfare. We provide a comprehensive range of services, supported by modern facilities and technology, enabling us to deliver high‐quality, personalised care to every pet and client.

We are seeking a confident and emotionally intelligent people leader who can positively influence performance and culture, bringing proven experience in managing and developing teams, confidence in monitoring performance and addressing challenges constructively, strong organisational and problem‐solving skills, and the ability to use data and feedback to drive continuous improvements. You will demonstrate a clear commitment to high standards of care, service, and teamwork, and hold a full UK driving licence to support internal meetings and travel between sites.

This role is 30 hours per week across five days, Monday to Friday. Start and finish times are flexible, supporting a healthy work‐life balance.

We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our people, premises, and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive base salary of up to £34,000 DOE, you will benefit from:

  • 6.6 weeks annual leave
  • Increasing holiday allowance based on length of service
  • Your birthday as a paid day off
  • Enhanced family‐friendly policies, including maternity/paternity/adoption/shared parental and surrogacy pay
  • Private Medical Insurance
  • Cycle to Work scheme
  • Initiatives focused on employee wellbeing, including discounted gym membership
  • £550 CPD allowance with 24 hours paid pro rata
  • Learning and development opportunities via the IVC Evidensia Academy
  • All our Vets & Nurses can apply for research funding
  • VDS cover
  • RCVS fees
  • Pawsome Benefits – reward gateway giving discounts and cashback with 100's of retailers
  • Pension – 5% Employee / 3% Employer
  • Discounted staff pet care
