Located in the coastal village of Doonfoot, near Ayr, Greenan Manor is a purpose-built 52-bed care home providing residential, nursing, dementia, respite and palliative care for the elderly. Our home combines modern facilities with compassionate, person-centred care in a welcoming and supportive environment. Salary: £13.80 per hour

Hours: 40 hours per week

Role & Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef to organise, plan and prepare meals ensuring that all home-cooked food not only looks and tastes delicious but also reflects the preferences and dietary requirements of each resident.
  • Working alongside the Head Chef in providing guidance and training to care teams on understanding and implementing safe and appropriate textured food options for residents, ensuring compliance with dietary standards.
  • Comply with industry and Meallmore quality, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • You will be involved in menu development, tailoring around residents’ needs, likes and dislikes to ensure we deliver person-centred hospitality.

  • Strong cookery skills and creativity in preparing home-cooked nutritious meals for our residents.
  • A personal and warm approach with a genuine interest in the well-being of our residents.
  • Ability to work to deadlines meeting the needs of the residents.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices.
  • Knowledge of nutrition, dietary needs and food allergies is desirable but not essential.
  • A culinary qualification is desirable but not essential.
