The Role
As Second Chef, you will support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You’ll assist with food preparation, menu delivery and service, ensuring meals are nutritious, well presented and tailored to residents’ individual dietary needs, including modified textures where required. You will also step in to oversee the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and service of high-quality meals
- Assist with menu planning and food preparation
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety
- Support stock control, ordering and kitchen audits
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen and wider care teams
About You
- Experience in a Second Chef, Sous Chef or similar role
- Knowledge of nutrition, dietary needs and food allergies
- Understanding of HACCP and COSHH
- Food Safety Level 3 desirable
- A caring, team-focused approach with pride in your work
