Our friendly team at Meallmore are looking for a Facilities and Estates Area Lead to join our ever-growing team. You will be responsible for the maintenance function in your base home whilst providing support across our other care homes located in the Central West area of Scotland. Meallmore are a leading provider of residential care services, currently operating 28 care Homes across Scotland. Our high-quality care is individually tailored to residents’ needs, whilst allowing them to be as independent as they wish.
Location: Across our care homes in the Central West of Scotland as required by the business.
Salary: £16.51 per hour
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Your role as a Facilities and Estates Area Lead will include:
- Optimising property condition and quality and to ensure all buildings and locations in your Area are kept in a safe and efficient working condition.
- Maintaining the highest level of quality, providing maximum satisfaction to internal and external customers, clients, residents and the wider team.
- Having a good understanding of the mechanism of buildings including Building Management Systems, electrical, plumbing, plant, safety systems and equipment.
- Providing response to fault finding, whilst maximising quality and ensuring cost effectiveness.
- Ensuring that your cluster remains legally compliant and appropriate records are maintained.
- Provide the wider area team with the clear purpose they require and support with relevant learning experiences and constant feedback on individual and team performance.
- Observe and coach maintenance personnel to ensure that they are continuing to develop their skills.
- Provide interview, selection, coaching and induction support to Home Managers where requested.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Understand and demonstrate the importance of Health and Safety in the workplace.
- Comply with organisational safety, policies and procedures and identify hazards and reduce them.
- Carry out repairs to the fabric of a building, for example repairs to walls, doors, doorframes, skirting boards or plaster damage to internal walls.
- Understand and maintain plumbing and drainage systems, for example repairs to WC systems, leaking taps or water testing and unblocking drains.
- Maintain high levels of water hygiene within a building.
- Understand and maintain electrical distribution, safe repair of electrical installation to legal requirements, for example replacing damaged sockets, plugs, lighting and fuses.
- Understand and maintain plant, safety systems and equipment.
- Understand and demonstrate the principles of Planned Preventative Maintenance.
- Understand how to prepare for refurbishment and risk assess or provide/comply with CDM guidance as appropriate.
- Manage reactive and planned preventative maintenance on Site Help Desk or other CAFM systems which may be adopted.
- Understand how to programme and interrogate any BeMS and Nursecall Systems installed.
- Record and report information accurately either internally or externally.
- Maintain records and file in the current and approved Meallmore format.
- Develop a working knowledge of IT network and telephone installations including identifying WIFI access points, switch cabinets and patch panels to support the central IT function in fault finding.
