Responsibilities

  • Support the welfare, behaviour and attendance of students.
  • Work closely with the Head of Year and pastoral team to provide day-to-day support for students, families and staff.
  • Help remove barriers to learning and ensure students feel safe, supported and ready to succeed.
  • Take a proactive approach to attendance, supporting non-attending students through planned return programmes where necessary.
  • Respond to student drop-in concerns, provide restorative conversations, liaise with external agencies and maintain accurate pastoral records.
  • Provide on-call support when required and assist with first aid (training provided).

Requirements

  • Have a calm, resilient and caring approach and enjoy supporting young people.
  • Have experience working with children or young people and understand the importance of safeguarding.
  • Can confidently build relationships with families and external agencies.
  • Able to de-escalate situations and respond to students in a supportive and professional manner.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage confidential information appropriately.
  • Can work well as part of a team but are equally comfortable using your initiative.
