Meadowhead Limited is a medium-sized, well-established and growing leisure business, whose core business is operating holiday parks in Edinburgh, East Lothian and Northumberland. Meadowhead is a well-diversified and privately-owned company with various enterprises located in Berwickshire, East Lothian, Edinburgh & Northumberland.
The Assistant Accountant position will be primarily based out of Meadowhead's Company Support Office in Edinburgh, located on Mortonhall Estate, a beautiful country estate only 4 miles from the heart of Edinburgh. This is an office-based role, not remote or hybrid. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small and friendly team in what is a key, stimulating and varied role. We are looking for a positive, reliable and enthusiastic team member to provide support and add value to the business. The successful candidate will naturally pay close attention to detail and have excellent time management and organisational skills. Strong communication skills are essential, be it face-to-face, on the telephone or online e.g. MS Teams.
Appropriate training and study support will be offered where required.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide day-to-day support to the Finance and Administration Manager.
- Accurately process sales invoices, purchase invoices and expenses.
- Post daily receipts and payments.
- Complete bank and other reconciliations.
- Process month-end payments and other payments as required.
- Report on debtors and creditors.
- Prepare and file VAT and other returns.
- Assist with budgets and forecasts.
- Assist in preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Report and analyse the food and beverage operations.
- Manage day-to-day transactions.
- Prepare month-end journals including accruals and prepayments.
- Liaise with auditors at year-end.
- Assist the finance department and senior management with various tasks and reports.
- Recommend new systems, processes and software.
- Other tasks as required.
- Excellent computer skills and the ability to pick up/recommend new software/IT solutions.
- Knowledge of Farmplan or Xero accounting software may be advantageous.
- F&B accounts experience advantageous.
- Qualified, qualified by experience, part-qualified or looking to undertake training.
- Articulate with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Capable team leader.
- Drive, proactivity and motivation.
- Flexible “can do” attitude and an excellent team player.
- Self-starter with the ability to use own initiative and problem solve.
- Able to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Ideally hold a full and clean driving licence.
