Role Description
The Carer (domiciliary) will provide person-centred care and support to individuals in their own homes, helping with personal care, medication prompts, mobility, and daily living activities. Day-to-day tasks include assisting with washing and dressing, meal preparation, light household duties, and monitoring wellbeing, while documenting care in line with company policies and regulatory requirements. The role involves working closely with clinicians, multidisciplinary teams, and families to follow care plans, support rehabilitation goals, and promote independence and dignity. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the West Midlands, requiring regular travel to service users’ homes within the local area and adherence to agreed rotas, including possible evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. The Carer will also contribute to maintaining safe practices, reporting concerns promptly, and supporting Meade Healthcare’s hospital-at-home services such as early supported discharge and admission avoidance.
Qualifications
- Experience in domiciliary care or home care, with strong skills in personal care, safe moving and handling, and supporting daily living activities.
- Ability to follow clinical care plans, observe and report changes in health, and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust, show empathy, and maintain professional boundaries.
- Organisational skills to manage scheduled visits, complete accurate records, and work reliably to rota requirements.
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, infection prevention and control, and basic health and safety in a home-care setting.
- Relevant care qualifications (e.g., NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care) or willingness to work towards them.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle (or ability to travel across the West Midlands as required).
- Right to work in the UK and ability to pass enhanced background and reference checks.
