Mead & Hunt, an award-winning national architecture and engineering firm, has continued to exceed our strategic growth initiatives creating opportunity for our current and prospective team members. As a result, a full-time position is available for a Federal Projects Manager. This manager would lead project teams focused on architecture, engineering, and planning services for our aviation and federal defense clients. This opportunity is available at either of our San Diego, Sacramento, or Windsor, CA office locations. This position also has the potential to be based in a remote capacity out of the state of California with travel required to office/client sites for the candidate with the right aptitude and ability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading project teams on small to large projects
  • Developing scopes, fees, contracts and subcontracts
  • Tracking and monitoring scopes, schedules, budgets and fees scheduling and facilitating team and client meetings
  • Building new and maintaining current client relationships
  • Supporting market leaders in strategically expanding business opportunities with aviation clients and federal agencies
  • Developing and delivering presentations to clients

As a national practice, this position is expected to travel up to 50% and a valid driver\’s license is required.

The successful candidate must have the following:

  • Bachelor\’s degree (or higher) in engineering, architecture, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience of which at least 2 years must be at the project manager level

OR

  • If no degree, at least 11 years of relevant experience of which at least 2 years must be at the project manager level

The ideal candidate will have any/all the following:

  • Experience in managing Federal clients delivering A/E programs and projects
  • Familiarity with the requirements of the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
  • Experience in all aspects of project management and management of geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary, collaborative project design teams comprised of architects, engineers, and specialty consultants
  • Licensed Architect (RA), Professional Engineer (PE), or Professional Geologist (PG) in any state with ability to obtain additional state licensures via reciprocity as needed are strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with Federal (USACE, USAF, NAVFAC, GSA, VA preferred) clients delivering A/E programs and projects
  • Business development and client management experience
  • Ability to seek out new project opportunities and support the Federal business development team in evaluating potential opportunities, assisting in evaluations, recommending which opportunities to pursue, and making teaming recommendations for successful pursuits
  • Additional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), WELL Accredited Professional, or Guiding Principles Compliance Professional are a plus
