Full Time Opportunities available for HGV Drivers. General Haulage Class 1 (Nights) with a competitive pay rate of £741.60 per week, plus a night premium of £22.00 per night.

We are a forward-thinking haulage business looking for full-time employees for Class 1 driving. This vacancy is located at our Nursling Depot and is a fantastic opportunity to work for a major haulage company. Meachers is one of the leading independent logistics providers of international freight and transport services in the UK.

Your application is important to us. If selected, we will arrange for you to meet the Transport Manager at the Nursling depot and you will be invited to take an assessment.

Excellent communication skills and fluency in English are required as you will be in constant communication with our clients, customers, and other members of internal teams. You must hold a British driving license, a valid CPC and Digi card, and have no more than 6 points on your license with no previous DR or DD endorsements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that on arrival the delivery is safe to make and respecting customers' property; if in doubt, consult with the customer and/or Traffic Office, and use disclaimers if necessary.
  • If any errors exist, mark documentation accordingly and consult with the Traffic Office as appropriate.
  • Handling customer issues on delivery effectively and avoiding getting overly involved in discussions. Contact the Traffic Office for assistance as required.
  • Carrying out deliveries in a timely and safe manner.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the driving cab.
  • Reporting any accidents immediately and in compliance with the company's accident reporting procedure.
  • Completing vehicle daily inspection sheets and returning them to the traffic office.
