The Role
Night Traffic Operator We are seeking an experienced Night Traffic Operator to coordinate and control our overnight UK transport operation.

You will help ensure that vehicle, driver and container movements are completed safely, efficiently and in full compliance with relevant legislation.

Working closely with the Transport Manager and wider Traffic Team, you will monitor vehicle and container movements throughout the night shift, support drivers, resolve operational issues, and keep transport systems and plans accurate and up to date.

You will need strong organisational skills, close attention to detail and the confidence to make timely operational decisions in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities Planning, routing and scheduling drivers and company vehicles to ensure efficient overnight transport operations.

Supervising and supporting drivers during night operations, acting as the main point of contact for operational queries and issues.

Monitoring ongoing vehicle movements and responding to delays, breakdowns, or operational changes.

Managing
container movements , including coordinating deliveries and collections from ports, depots, and customer sites.

Managing Container Vehicle Booking Systems (VBS)
for port collections and deliveries, ensuring slots are booked and utilised effectively to avoid delays and maximise operational efficiency.

Maximising the utilisation of fleet and subcontractor resources to ensure cost-effective transport operations.

Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all transport management systems are kept up to date.

Ensuring compliance with
Drivers Hours Regulations, Tachograph Rules, and the Working Time Directive .

Communicating clearly with drivers, warehouse teams, and internal departments to ensure smooth overnight operations.

Providing updates to management on operational performance and any issues arising during the shift.

About You You will have experience in traffic planning or transport operations, preferably within container logistics.

You will be confident making operational decisions, communicating with drivers and customers, and using transport management and vehicle booking systems.

A strong understanding of Drivers Hours Regulations, Tachograph Rules and the Working Time Directive is essential.

Key Accountabilities Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will take ownership of overnight transport control.

You will be accountable for maintaining legal compliance, protecting service performance, using company and subcontractor resources efficiently, and escalating significant operational issues promptly.

Hours of Work This position operates from 15:30 to 01:30 on a shift basis.
