We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Night Traffic Operator to join our transport team. This role is responsible for supporting the overnight coordination and management of our UK vehicle fleet, ensuring that all transport activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with relevant legislation. Working closely with the Transport Manager and the wider Traffic team, you will be responsible for the planning and monitoring of vehicle movements during the night shift.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planning, routing and scheduling drivers and company vehicles to ensure efficient overnight transport operations.
- Supervising and supporting drivers during night operations, acting as the main point of contact for operational queries and issues.
- Monitoring ongoing vehicle movements and responding to delays, breakdowns, or operational changes.
- Managing container movements, including coordinating deliveries and collections from ports, depots, and customer sites.
- Managing Container Vehicle Booking Systems (VBS) for port collections and deliveries, ensuring slots are booked and utilised effectively to avoid delays and maximise operational efficiency.
- Liaising with ports, depots, customers, and subcontractors to coordinate container collections and deliveries.
- Maximising the utilisation of fleet and subcontractor resources to ensure cost-effective transport operations.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all transport management systems are kept up to date.
- Ensuring compliance with Drivers Hours Regulations, Tachograph Rules, and the Working Time Directive.
- Communicating clearly with drivers, warehouse teams, and internal departments to ensure smooth overnight operations.
- Providing updates to management on operational performance and any issues arising during the shift.
Hours of Work: This position operates on a shift system covering the hours between 16:00 and 01:30.
