We are looking for an accomplished Law Costs Draftsman to join our leading litigation team, where your expertise will genuinely help shape the department’s success.
You will need a minimum of 3+ years’ experience and be a confident negotiator with a strong knowledge of CPR Part 47 proceedings.
- Main tasks and responsibilities
- Detailed Assessment Proceedings
- Drafting / preparing inter partes bills of costs, and points of reply/dispute.
- Overseeing the issuing of the Notice of Commencement and associated documents.
- Attendance upon Detailed Assessment Hearing as and when necessary.
- Summary Assessment
- Liasing with solicitors and counsel.
- Costs Budgeting
- Drafting Precedent H, Precedent R and Precedent T.
- Negotiation of costs budgets in County Court and High Court proceedings, including, where appropriate, attendance at Costs & Case Management Conferences.
- Training / Management
- Providing technical / costs guidance to fee earners where required.
- Maintaining accurate time costing procedures.
- Contributing to internal training and the ongoing development of costs management processes.
The successful candidate will be working independently within a supportive team and will be provided with a high degree of autonomy.
The candidate will have a strong knowledge of costs recovery processes, CPR and costs-related case law.
Hybrid working arrangements will be considered after an initial probation period.
