Your focus is to deliver a fantastic, high-energy Meetings & Events operation, working closely alongside your manager. You will ensure that our conference and banqueting spaces consistently offer the highest professional standards of service while maximizing overall profitability. You achieve this by leading shifts from the front and running various events from the initial planning stages right through to welcoming guests, delivery, and final farewells. You will also regularly deputise for the Manager to keep the department ahead of the game.
At Village, we do hospitality a little differently. We are all about personality, genuine connections, and creating great experiences for our guests and each other. That is why we back our teams to be themselves, take ownership, learn new skills, and grow their careers. Previous experience is great, but your attitude and energy matter much more to us. If you are friendly, positive, love working with people, and enjoy being part of a busy team, we will give you all the support, training, and opportunities you need.
We live our culture through four simple commitments:
- We Can & We Do: We show up to make a genuine difference and do fantastic work every day, with purpose. We welcome change, support our management team, and actively participate in building a vibrant department culture.
- We Will: Treat each other with respect and dignity. No ego, no drama. We try our best, look out for each other, and coordinate closely with the sales team to offer seamless solutions for our clients.
- We Care: We care about our impact on guests, the community, and each other. We love to WOW our conference and banqueting guests with enthusiasm and meticulous attention to detail from welcome to farewell.
As our Meetings & Events Team Leader / Assistant Manager, you are the operational spark on the floor. We trust you to handle:
- Shift & Event Leadership: Leading busy event shifts, coaching team members to deliver excellence, and ensuring spaces are set up perfectly to brand standards.
- Commercial & Financial Support: Reviewing departmental performance against budgets, tracking payroll percentages, and driving revenue across bar spend and wet targets.
- Tech & Setup Supervision: Operating and demonstrating complex AV equipment safely and efficiently, while ensuring all event kit is stored securely.
- Food & Drink Excellence: Serving with confidence and flare, role-modelling natural upselling behaviours to maximize shift profitability.
- Compliance & Audits: Conducting health and safety training, food safety checks, licensing law compliance, and statutory audits as directed.
We do not micromanage. It takes a village, so we believe in Ownership & Integrity, giving you the autonomy to run your shifts, manage client needs on the fly, and meet your personal objectives. We Empower & Elevate our people. If you want Room to Grow, we provide funded qualifications, structured 1:1 reviews, and joint objective planning to actively map out your leadership career. We constantly Innovate & Progress so we can Inspire Excellence and smash our regional ReviewPro and BDRC score targets together.
