Headquartered in East London, the business supports a diverse portfolio of sites throughout London and the South East, working closely with clients to provide reliable, compliant and responsive facilities solutions. The company is recognised for its technical expertise, strong service delivery and collaborative working environment.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to join a growing facilities management and building services business, supporting procurement activities across multiple contracts and projects. This role will suit a commercially aware Buyer with experience in FM, M&E or construction environments, comfortable working within a small, hands-on team.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Process site requisitions and place purchase orders, including call-off orders, in line with company procedures
- Check requested delivery dates can be met and notify site teams where this is not achievable
- Obtain and assess supplier quotations, considering lead times, terms, availability and discounts
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value prior to placing orders
- Monitor urgent deliveries and chase back-orders, liaising closely with site teams
- Maintain purchasing trackers, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date records
- Check materials are like-for-like and suitable before orders are placed
- Arrange returns with suppliers and inform the Commercial Manager to ensure credits and trackers are updated
- Confirm delivery times and site delivery restrictions with suppliers
- Monitor back orders and proactively chase suppliers, keeping site teams informed
- Ensure all orders receive appropriate internal sign-off
- Ensure all products meet warranty, quality and safety procedures
- Record supplier performance issues and escalate where required
- Act as the key link between suppliers, site teams and the Commercial Manager
- Maintain accurate records of outstanding orders within the EQUE2 system
- Resolve invoice queries promptly and communicate any payment issues immediately
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the purchasing function
- Support the business with ad-hoc duties as required

Requirements & Skills
- Ideally experience in a Buyer or procurement role within Facilities Management, M&E or Construction
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Good analytical and organisational ability
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and purchasing systems
- Demonstrated longevity in previous roles
- Construction or building services background beneficial
- Able to work independently within a small team
- Strong team player with a proactive and reliable approach
