About the Role
My client is seeking an experienced and proactive Technical Services Manager to join our project delivery team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong construction professional to lead and manage the design, coordination, and delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) services across a range of major projects.
Working closely with project teams, consultants, subcontractors and clients, you will ensure that building services are designed, coordinated, installed and commissioned to the highest standards, supporting successful project outcomes from pre-construction through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the management and coordination of all MEP technical services activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and manage consultant and subcontractor designs to ensure compliance with contractual, technical and statutory requirements.
- Coordinate design development to achieve programme objectives and project milestones.
- Manage design workshops and technical meetings with consultants, clients and specialist subcontractors.
- Ensure effective integration of building services with architectural, structural and operational requirements.
- Monitor technical risk, identify value engineering opportunities and implement solutions where appropriate.
- Support procurement teams in the selection and appointment of specialist MEP subcontractors.
- Oversee commissioning strategies, testing procedures and handover documentation.
- Ensure compliance with current building regulations, legislation and industry best practice.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams throughout delivery.
- Contribute to project reporting, programme reviews and stakeholder communications.
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong technical background in construction and building services, coupled with excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a Technical Services Manager, Building Services Manager, Design Manager or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems within large-scale construction projects.
- Experience working within a main contractor, specialist MEP contractor or consultancy environment.
- Sound understanding of design coordination, commissioning and project delivery processes.
- Knowledge of current UK Building Regulations and relevant industry standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and design documentation.
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree or HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional membership with CIBSE, IET, IMech E or equivalent.
- CSCS card and relevant health and safety qualifications.
- Experience of BIM and digital construction processes.
