We are looking to hire a Regional Social Media & Digital Marketing Specialist in our Manchester office! This role is essential to our Marketing & Communications department, and involves collaborating and aligning with key stakeholders (corporate marketing, regional marketing, product marketing, journal marketing and office/regional management) to develop and execute impactful social media and digital marketing campaigns and strategies for assigned locations. This includes creating content, executing campaigns, and handling paid promotion. This is a full‑time, in‑office role based in our Manchester city centre office, located next to Piccadilly Gardens.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as key knowledge source for all aspects of social media and digital marketing for assigned locations.
  • Develop the regional social media and digital marketing strategy for assigned locations with key stakeholders.
  • Own the content calendar (across key channels – Social, Paid, Regional Website, Digital Events etc) for assigned regions, ensuring timely execution and alignment with approved stakeholder messaging.
  • Assist in the development of the broader regional marketing strategy.
  • Develop and implement the paid social media strategy for assigned regions adhering to established frameworks, tools and processes.
  • Prepare and present monthly report on organic and paid campaign performance across channels.
  • Adapt social media and digital marketing strategy to align with feedback, change in industry landscape and corporate/stakeholder priorities.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders including JRS, Events, IOAP, Corporate Marketing etc.
  • Collaborate with other Social Media and Digital Marketing personnel to maintain a culture of expert knowledge sharing and support.
  • Engage in outreach activities with regional academic community in partnership to develop new region‑specific content e.g., interviews, webinars.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Refine and adapt existing content based on performance data and brainstorm new content and campaign ideas to meet key objectives.

What We’re Looking For

  • A Bachelor's degree or above in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, or a related subject (required).
  • Some experience coordinating social media or digital marketing activities for business.
  • Native‑level English proficiency (proficiency in other languages is a plus).
  • Intermediate knowledge of key social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram (experience with other channels is a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of Facebook Ads Manager (skills with other Ad Managers is a plus).
  • Experience using social media and digital marketing tools such as Hootsuite, Falcon and Sprout or Google Suite (GA4, Tag Manager, Search Console, etc.), as well as data visualisation tools.
  • A core understanding of brand, communication, and digital marketing principles.
  • Demonstrable organisational skills and prioritisation capabilities.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Interest in science and communications, and curiosity to learn more about the publishing industry.
