Role Overview

The Content Specialist will work within our global corporate communications team and is responsible for developing and implementing a range of science content strategies to communicate with key stakeholders. Demonstrable experience of delivering first class science communications for websites, blogs, social media and video is preferable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and implementation of always on campaigns
  • Participate in the development and implementation of major campaigns
  • Propose multi-channel (blog and social media) and multi-format (long form, text, video, podcast) content ideas to support campaign objectives
  • Conduct the necessary research to create multi-channel/ multi-format content ideas that support MDPIs brand
  • Responsible for ensuring the publishing/sharing/promotion of their content
  • Contribute to the creation of at least four blog posts per month
  • Participate in relevant team meetings on key topics related to workload such as SEO, Content, Campaigns, Performance Metrics
  • Review articles from other contributors, as part of the peer-review system
  • Other comms/content work as required
  • Skills and Qualifications

  • PHD in any subject.
  • 1+ years of experience of developing, coordinating or creating content in a business setting
  • Good knowledge of blog writing platforms such as WordPress, Substack, Medium etc.
  • Good knowledge of content and communication best practices
  • Good knowledge of SEO best practices
  • Some knowledge of key social media platforms Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube for business (previous experience of creating content beneficial).
  • Some knowledge of promotion and marketing strategies
  • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken), other language skills are beneficial.
  • Good organizational, analytical and prioritization abilities.
  • Interest in science, science communications and/or the scholarly publishing industry.
