We are seeking a Scientific Content Specialist to join our Manchester office. As part of our global Corporate Communications team, you will play a key role in developing and executing content strategies that effectively engage and inform key stakeholders. You will contribute to a wide range of scientific communication initiatives, including content development, podcast production, and media relations, helping to strengthen our global communications efforts. This is a full-time, in-office role based in our Manchester city centre office, which is located next to Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the development and execution of always-on campaigns.
- Support the development and implementation of major campaigns.
- Propose multi-channel (blog and social media) and multi-format (long-form articles, text, video, podcast) content ideas that support campaign objectives.
- Conduct research to develop multi-channel and multi-format content ideas that strengthen MDPI’s brand.
- Ensure timely publishing, sharing, and promotion of content across relevant channels.
- Contribute to the creation of at least four blog posts per month.
- Participate in relevant team meetings covering key topics such as workload planning, SEO, content strategy, campaigns, and performance metrics.
- Review articles from other contributors as part of the peer-review process.
- Undertake additional communications and content-related tasks as required.
What We're Looking For
- PhD in any field required.
- 2+ years of experience developing, coordinating, or creating content in a business environment.
- Native-level English proficiency; additional language skills are a plus.
- Familiarity with Microsoft O365.
- Basic understanding of key social media platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube) for business use; prior content creation experience is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of promotion and marketing strategies.
- Experience using blogging platforms such as WordPress, Substack, Medium, or similar.
- Intermediate knowledge of content creation and communication best practices.
- Intermediate knowledge of SEO best practices.
