MDM are supporting a search for a Head of Finance on behalf of a c£70m turnover telecoms business based in Cheshire, with operations across the UK and Europe.

The business has grown through acquisition and now supports a customer base of c15,000 customers globally, creating a fast-paced, data-rich operating environment with high transaction volumes and operational complexity.

Reporting to the Divisional Finance Director, the Head of Finance will lead the finance function for the Telecoms division, with a particular focus on financial control, reporting, working capital management and process improvement. The role will also play a key part in simplifying the corporate structure and strengthening the control environment as the business continues to scale.

The role focuses on commercial control, reporting quality and operational finance leadership.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leading, mentoring and developing a finance team of 15
  • Managing the monthly management reporting process
  • Strengthening and continuously improving financial controls and balance sheet governance
  • Business Partner to Sales, Operations and Credit, helping to design robust processes to support growth
  • Overseeing stock controls and inventory management within a scaling operational environment
  • Ownership of cashflow forecasting and working capital management
  • Driving improvements across finance processes, reporting and data quality
  • Managing the annual audit process across four European entities

The Candidate

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / ACMA)
  • Experience operating at a senior level, either acting as a #1 in Finance or ready to take that next step, in a fast-paced SME, or division as part of a larger group
  • Able to demonstrate management and improvement of a Financial Control environment in a growth business
  • Experience operating in a high-volume business with a substantial customer base and significant data complexity
  • Proven people leadership capability, focused on building a high performing team and positive working culture
